What Is The Difference Between RSO and CBD Oil?

Both CBD (cannabidiol) and Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) have become household names. Although they are both derived from cannabis, they are extremely different.

People have received amazing benefits from both the use of CBD as well as RSO. Anecdotal claims are diverse, and they range from treating cancer to autoimmune diseases to other serious life threatening illnesses.

Scientific evidence does not back up all of these claims. However it does not discredit them.

The Difference Between RSO and CBD:

Firstly, CBD products are generally derived from the hemp plant. Whereas RSO oil is derived from marijuana. CBD is Non-psychoactive, whereas Rick Simpson Oil is very psychoactive.

Constituents and cannabinoids found in RSO and CBD vary significantly. RSO is a highly concentrated form of cannabis, often containing massive amounts of THC.

On the other hand, CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid commonly found in the hemp plant (defined as a cannabis plant containing less than 0.3% THC). More information about CBD can be found here.

The difference between RSO and CBD lies in these fundamental differences: RSO tends to be strongly psychoactive and far more concentrated than CBD oils.

RSO is generally a full spectrum product, which means it is a whole plant extract. Whereas CBD is a single cannabinoid. CBD products will vary. There are CBD isolates (100% CBD), full spectrum and broad spectrum (broad spectrum contains the whole plant but has been specifically processed to be zero THC).

What Is RSO?

Rick Simpson Oil (RSO), also known as Phoenix tears, was made popular through the film Run From the Cure. It is a highly concentrated oil derived from the marijuana plant, with extraordinarily high levels of THC, along with other terpenes, cannabinoids and plant compounds.

Generally, RSO is administered orally to receive the full benefits. However some people apply the oil topically and even rectally.

This oil has gathered a “cultish” following, with people claiming amazing benefits such as curing cancer.

There is no concrete scientific data to support these claims. They are strictly anecdotal. However If cannabis truly is a cancer “cure”, then no doubt RSO is the stuff to take, because it is the most concentrated oil one can consume.

Below are some disorders people have used RSO for:

                      • All forms of cancer
                      • Chronic pain
                      • Sleep issues
                      • Diabetes
                      • Recovery from chemotherapy

Proper Dosage and How to Consume RSO:

There are some important factors to keep in mind regarding dosage for RSO, such as weight, age, and tolerance to marijuana.

Due to its high concentration, it’s good to start slow and work your way up. Dosage also depends on your goals. Are you taking it to for a serious illness, recreationally, or for other health effects?

Important note: as stated above RSO is psychoactive and the effects can be very strong.

For those who wish to ingest RSO as it was intended for serious health complications, it is recommended to consume a full 60ml quantity over the course of about 90 days.

Week 1:

Start with ¼ of a drop, or about half of a grain of rice, every 8 hours – morning, afternoon and one hour before bed. Generally, the psychoactive effects of RSO take about one hour to take effect. Do not try to drive or operate machinery after dosage. Set aside the first 4 days to see how the RSO effects your body.

Week 2-5:

After consuming this amount for four days, most people are able to double their dose, continuing to take every 8 hours. You can continue doubling your dose every 4 days.

Week 5-12:

It generally takes people 3 to 5 weeks to build up to the point of being able to consume 1 ml of oil per day. This would equal about 9 drops every 8 hours, or doses about the size 18 grains of rice. During weeks 5-12, consume 1ml per day until the 60ml amount is consumed.

Important Notes:

Generally after a while of taking the RSO, many people do not experience any sort of “high”. However, everybody is different and the effects of RSO will differ greatly depending on body and constitution.

By following this protocol, numerous people claim to be cancer free.

Do not consume without consulting a physician or trained medical professional, especially if you are suffering from a serious illness or you are taking any other medications.

More exact information about dosage can be found on Rick Simpson’s official website.
