Will Zero THC CBD Show Up On A Drug Test?

If you’re getting drug tested, you may be considering a Zero THC CBD oil. As you are likely already aware of, many CBD oils on the market contain small amounts of THC (<0.3%). This is not enough to get you high, but it is enough to cause a positive result on a drug test

So, what about Zero THC CBD and drug tests? If you remove the THC from a CBD oil, will you still fail a drug test? The short answer is no. At least… Most likely, no. But it depends on some important factors, which is what we are going to be covering in this article.

Why Regular CBD Can Cause A Failed Drug Test…

As we stated above, “regular” CBD, also known as “full spectrum” CBD, contains small amounts of THC. THC, known as Tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main compound found in marijuana, and it is what gets people “high”. This compound is what drug tests are looking for.

The amount of THC is negligible (less than 0.3%). It won’t get you high. However, it is enough to cause a failed drug test in some circumstances. Even so, many people are able to pass their drug test while taking this form of CBD. Most people would rather be safe than sorry though.

For this reason, we always suggest people expecting a drug test to take either a Zero THC CBD product, or simply skip the CBD all together.

Can Zero THC CBD Cause A Failed Drug Test?

First of all, as our legal team has advised us, we need to be clear about something. We can not guarantee that you will pass a drug test taking our (or any) Zero THC CBD products. This is up to the personal responsibility of the consumer.

Now that the legal stuff is out of the way… THC is what shows up on a drug test, not CBD. That means, if you are taking a zero thc CBD oil, you should be in the clear (more on that below).

However, when it comes to Zero THC CBD, there is something consumers need to be aware of. CBD is currently unregulated, which means there are not strict standards in place for quality and claims.

Unfortunately, some companies and manufacturers are taking advantage of this. They are claiming their oil is THC free, when in fact there is THC present, and at times there is enough THC to cause a failed drug test.

A recent study of over 84 CBD oil products revealed that 69% of them were inconsistent with what was on the label. This involved some “zero” THC CBD oils have traceable amounts of THC, as well as some CBD oils containing more than 0.3% THC.

This means, buy your Zero THC CBD from a trusted brand, that offers you access to their 3rd party Certificates Of Analysis (COAs).

Can Zero THC CBD Cause A False Positive On A Drug Test?

A recent study found that those consuming Zero THC CBD were clear 99.5% of the time (only1 our of 218 urine samples were positive). Researchers guessed that this one positive result could be due to an error, which is known to happen at the best of times…

Further research needs to be conducted, however initial results are promising for those who want to consume Zero THC CBD, but are expecting a drug test.

In Conclusion….

Your chances of testing positive while taking a Zero THC CBD product are close to zero, according to studies. Of course, if you fail a drug test due to Zero THC CBD, you will need to take responsibility for your choice to consume CBD.

It is important to look for a brand you can trust. Just because the bottle or website claims zero THC, does not mean that it necessarily is THC free. We are hoping that in the future there will be regulations put in place to ensure that labels reflect the products. Until then, look for COAs to see for yourself.
